Who We Are
Jason Huffman
Writer and Editor
Jason is a sophomore Smith Scholar majoring in International Business and Economics with minors in Political Economy and Spanish. He is from Harrison, Ohio. Jason is passionate about travel, language learning, and politics. After his undergraduate degrees, Jason would like to obtain a Masters in Economics and then pursue a Law Degree. Many of Jason's articles focus on politics, history, and culture.
John Fritz

John Fritz is a senior Smith Scholar from Covington, Kentucky. He is majoring in Economics with minors in Political Economy and Finance. John graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati in 2019. He has a passion for sports, business, and the relationship between the two. His articles primarily focus on economics and social issues.
Trevor Tiemeyer

Trevor Tiemeyer is a sophomore Smith Scholar majoring in Accounting and Finance with minors in Political Economy and Economics. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from St. Xavier High School in 2021. Trevor has also taken the post of retreat director/writer for the Smith Center's annual first-year retreat. He is a lifelong learner and spends his time trying to better himself and those around him. Through his experience at Blue & Co, a CPA firm in Cincinnati, Trevor continues to work towards getting his CPA. Trevor also has a passion for culture, arts, and science as can be seen in his articles.

Addison Moe is a Marketing Major who is passionate about understanding Market Research. She has a Business Analytics and Political Economy Minor. She is from Columbus, Ohio and her articles focus on entrepreneurship and business functions. She loves traveling and meeting new people.
Sophia Grimes

My name is Sophia Grimes and I am a Finance major at Xavier University. I’m in the Smith Scholar Program and I also have a minor in Political Economy. I founded XU Fashion Club in 2020 in an effort to explore my interests in fashion and sustainability. We organize clothing drives, sew, knit, and repurpose used clothing. I received my biliteracy in Spanish when I was a senior in high school. I am a proud St. Louisan! (Sorry Reds fans).

Jack Micucci

Jack Micucci is a freshman Smith Scholar from Park Ridge, Illinois. He is majoring in Marketing and Entrepreneurship with minors in Political Economy and Economics. He runs the social media for Outdoors Club and the Smith Scholars. He is interested in technology, graphic design, and social media.
Lucius Overby

My name is Lucius Overby, and I am a Sophmore Smith Scholar at Xavier University. I study both Economics and Spanish. Along with the Smith Scholar Program, I am also the President of Refugee Xavier, a program focused on mitigating educational barriers for refugees.
Noelle Ullery

Noelle Ullery is a Senior Smith Scholar from Saint Louis, Missouri. She is double majoring in economics and English with a writing concentration and minoring in political economy. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, writing, and running. On campus, she is involved with sustainability and service. Her articles primarily focus on intersections between business and social issues.
Juan David Patino

Juan is a MBA student at Xavier University with concentrations in Finance and Business Ethics. He was one of the Cintas Graduate Ethics Fellows for the 2021 -2022 academic year. Juan is from Colombia and he graduated from Xavier in 2021 with a B.A in Political Science. Besides his native Spanish, he is fluent in English and French.
